Clifta: 100 lbs. Weight Loss
Submit Your TestimonialI had the lap band surgery in October 2008. I am so grateful for all of the things that I can do since having the surgery and losing weight.
I can now bend over to pick up something off the floor or get down on my knees to work in the garden and then get back up without having to crawl to a bench. I’m kind of a klutz and occasionally lose my balance and fall flat on my face. The first time I did that after losing a significant amount of weight was outside my dog groomer’s shop. I tripped on a rubber mat and was flat on my face before I knew what happened. My first thought was, “I hope nobody saw me.” My second thought was, “Hey! It’s okay! I can get myself back up!!”
I flew to Washington D.C. with my daughter and her family last summer, and loved the fact that I could fasten the airplane seat belt with ease! We walked all over the city during a heat wave, and I was able to keep with the family.
One of the best things is that my 10-year-old grandson can reach clear around me to give me a hug. When I started losing weight, I would have him hug me frequently to check my progress. Now not only can he reach around my waist, but he can overlap his hands too!
I have been going to Curves for close to three years now. I usually make it three times a week, and I try to walk the dog on alternate days. But keeping the weight off requires constant vigilance.
I am so glad that I made the decision to have this surgery, as it has been such a positive experience for me.
