Regina - 101 lbs. Weight Loss
Submit Your TestimonialI had been overweight all my life….well, since I was 1 year old. The ironic thing was out of the four kids in my family, I had the smallest birth weight! I went on my first diet at the tender age of 6. I didn’t know it was a diet aid I was taking, just a special treat that I got to take with my mom. It didn’t help me, but I stayed active doing cheerleading, walking, volleyball, gymnastics, dance and anything else my parents could think of. This shifted my weight so I ended up with a small waist, being able to hide how much I actually weighed. In my twenties, a doctor told me that I had the perfect measurements for a woman a foot taller than my 5’3” frame. He said I needed to lose weight or grow more. I looked at him and very politely requested a stretching rack be prescribed!
At one point, I became very depressed over some issues in my life, resulting in my losing 30 pounds. It was great! Then I met my future husband, who made me very happy and content, resulting in me becoming 35 pounds heavier. Though I tried to keep a handle on my weight after I got married, it was a horrible yo-yo that only frustrated me and I just wouldn’t eat at all, thinking that this would help. WRONG!
I was on medication for diabetes, high cholesterol, high blood pressure and gastric reflux (all but the last one part of my family medical history). To add insult to injury, there is a history of heart disease with the women on my mom’s side of the family as well. All of this started in their mid to late 40’s. I was 48, on medication for my co-morbid conditions and at least 125 pounds overweight, weighing 248 lbs. I was a walking time-bomb!
On June 7, 2011, I had a gastric bypass done by Dr. Richards. With the added and very important help of Andrea for diet and supplements, and Tracey for exercise for mind and body, my metabolism has increased 245 points, I am 101 lighter to date, really living life and praising every day!
